Sunny Mehta

Senior Data Scientist, Zelus Analytics
ABOUT

Sunny Mehta pioneered the first full time analytics department in the NHL, serving as Director of Hockey Analytics for the New Jersey Devils from 2014 to 2017. He is currently an analytics consultant to an NHL team and Senior Data Scientist at Zelus Analytics, a rapidly growing startup with six Major League Baseball Team clients and an all-star staff of data scientists and data engineers from various different pro sports.

Sunny was previously a proprietary derivatives trader for Peak6 Capital Management at the Chicago Board of Trade while consulting for other NHL teams. He spent seven years in the early portion of his career as a professional poker player and co-authored two bestselling poker strategy books.

A native of northern New Jersey, Sunny grew up playing ice hockey and practicing his guitar. He graduated from the Frost School of Music at University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Guitar. He is currently finishing his Masters in Data Science from CUNY.
