Michael Girsch
Michael Girsch was named Vice President, Senior Advisor to Baseball Operations in the Fall of 2025. He is responsible for advising the President of Baseball Operations on player personnel matters, providing counsel to senior Baseball Operations leaders, mentoring leaders throughout baseball operations and searching for innovations and best practices throughout the sports and business industries that can be incorporated into the organization.
Prior to this role, Girsch the Vice President and General Manager for 7 years, becoming the 13th General Manager in franchise history, and Assistant General Manager for 7 seasons, after being promoted to the position in January 2011.
From 2008-11, he served as the Director of Baseball Development, a newly created department focused on supporting Baseball Operations via internet applications, analytical models and decision support tools. Girsch joined the Cardinals in 2006, starting his career with a two-year stint as the Coordinator of Amateur Scouting.
Before joining the Cardinals, Girsch earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
He and his wife, Kelly, reside in Webster Groves with their four children, twins Addison and Eleanor (21), Claire (19) and Tommy (18).
Girsch has been a member of the Webster University Board of Trustees since 2020.
