James Click joined the Blue Jays as Vice President, Baseball Strategy prior to the 2023 season. In this role, he works closely with General Manager Ross Atkins and department heads on strategic planning, decision making, and evaluation. James works across both professional and amateur levels to identify best practices, develop plans, and implement strategies. James spent the 2020-2022 seasons as General Manager of the Houston Astros, claiming an AL pennant in 2021 and winning a World Series title in 2022. Prior to that, he spent 14 years with the Tampa Bay Rays, most recently as their Vice President of Baseball Operations from 2017 to 2019. James graduated from Yale University in 2000 and wrote for Baseball Prospectus for several years before joining the Rays.
