Howard Beck

Senior Writer, Bleacher Report

About

Howard Beck has covered the NBA for 23 years, as a beat writer for the Los Angeles Daily News, the New York Times and now Bleacher Report. He has covered 19 NBA Finals, 17 All-Star Games and two lockouts.

Beck started covering the L.A. Lakers for the Daily News in 1997 and chronicled the key years of the Shaq-Kobe era, from the arrival of Phil Jackson through the three-peat (2000-2002) and finally the breakup of the dynasty in 2004.

Beck spent the next nine years at the Times, where he chronicled the profound and perversely fascinating dysfunction of the New York Knicks, from the Isiah Thomas-Stephon Marbury years through the Carmelo Anthony-Amare Stoudemire era and Linsanity.

In 2013, Beck joined Bleacher Report, as a senior writer covering the NBA at large. He also hosts the Full 48 podcast and is a regular contributor to SiriusXM NBA Radio.

A native of San Jose, Calif., Beck graduated from UC Davis in 1991 with a degree in English. He lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., with his wife, daughter and cat.
