Host "NHL Tonight", NHL Network @KathrynTappen Kathryn Tappen is in her first season with NHL Network. She began her career at CSTV in 2003, where she hosted a variety of programs. Tappen then spent a year and a half at WJAR in Providence, RI, where she was the weekend anchor and weekday sports reporter for the NBC affiliate. Tappen won an AP award in 2006. She has also received two Emmy nominations for sports feature reporting. Tappen has served as a sideline reporter for NBC Universal Sports and hosted a nightly special covering the 2006 Winter Olympic GamesIn 2006, Tappen joined New England Sports Network, where she served as NESN's studio host for Boston Bruins games and as a lead anchor for SportsDesk. Tappen left NESN in 2011 to join the NHL Network. The Rutgers University graduate was an Academic All-American as a member of the cross country and track teams and is a former record holder in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase.
