Speaker Profile

Laurie is the Director of Football Data at City Football Group, where he leads the data engineering and data science teams that support all our football clubs -- from Manchester City FC to Montevideo City Torque -- with player recruitment and performance analysis decisions. He joined CFG in February 2021 from Harvard University, where he was a Research Scientist and Lecturer in the Department of Statistics. Laurie has also worked as a policy advisor for the British Government and in quantitative finance at Winton Capital Management.

He holds a PhD in Astrophysics from Cambridge University, and an Msci from Imperial College, London.
