Vice President of Process and Analytics, Tampa Bay Rays
Jonathan Erlichman currently serves as the Vice President of Process and Analytics for the Tampa Bay Rays. He is entering his 12th season with the organization, his first in this role where he will work across departments to accelerate projects of high impact and conduct research related to player wellness.
Erlichman spent the past five seasons in the dugout as the Process and Analytics coach, helping the Rays make the playoffs in all five seasons, including one World Series appearance. During his time on the bench, he worked closely with manager Kevin Cash and the rest of the coaching staff to improve decision-making processes and practice methods.
Nicknamed “J-Money” for reasons unknown, Erlichman never played baseball beyond t-ball, instead focusing on hockey. He became captivated with baseball and analytics after reading Moneyball by Michael Lewis.
The Toronto native graduated from Princeton with a degree in Mathematics in 2012 before returning to his hometown to briefly intern with the Blue Jays. Following his stint with the Jays, he moved to St. Petersburg as an intern with the Rays in 2013, before earning promotions to assistant and then analyst in baseball research and development. He then rose to Director of Analytics in 2016 before moving into the coaching role.
When not at Tropicana Field, Erlichman can be found hanging out with his wife, Casey, and wrangling their one-year-old daughter, Spencer, as she chases after their two dogs, Lexi (12) and Leo (2).
