Joe Martinez

ABOUT

Joe Martinez is Major League Baseball’s Vice President of On-Field Strategy.  Since joining MLB in February 2021, Martinez has worked with the Baseball Operations departments and on-field personnel of the 30 Major League Clubs regarding rules, technology and equipment, and he has helped administer various projects and research for the Office of the Commissioner and the league’s joint Competition Committee.  Martinez was drafted in 2005 and pitched in the Major Leagues for the San Francisco Giants (2009-2010), Pittsburgh Pirates (2010), Arizona Diamondbacks (2012) and Cleveland Indians (2013).  Following his playing career, Martinez spent five years in the mergers and acquisitions group at PwC.  The New Jersey native pitched at Boston College, where he earned a degree in finance.
