Speaker Profile

Federico Barbero is a Research Scientist at Google DeepMind in London, where he focuses on the large-scale training of frontier Large Language Models. Outside of his main line of research, he also worked on applying AI in structural biology (protein folding), the generation of creative chess puzzles, and using deep learning techniques for soccer analytics. His doctoral research at the University of Oxford was recognized this year with the national prize for the best PhD thesis in Computer Science from the Italian Senate.
