As Executive Vice President of Basketball Strategy & Analytics at the NBA, Evan focuses on strategic initiatives targeted at innovating and improving the NBA game, such as scheduling, competition issues, and technological enhancements. Evan also oversees strategy, data, and analytics for all on-court activities, including player performance, game analytics, and metrics pertaining to officiating performance.

Evan leads a team of approximately 30 strategists, data scientists and video reviewers while contributing to a variety of significant league projects, including rule changes, player health and wellness matters, and integrity monitoring.

Evan has been a driving force behind most of the recent changes to the NBA game and competition, including the In-Season Tournament, Play-In Tournament, 2019-20 return-to-play (“Bubble”) and 2020-21 season competition formats, game scheduling, game flow/timeout structure, All-Star Game format, and Draft Lottery.

Since joining the NBA in 2011, Evan also contributed across a range of key league business initiatives, including the development and evolution of the NBA’s revenue sharing plan and the negotiation of the league’s national media deals.

Prior to joining the NBA, Evan received his M.B.A. from MIT Sloan. While at Sloan, Evan served as a co-lead of the fifth edition of the Sports Analytics Conference.

Evan started his career at Marakon, a boutique strategy firm, where he spent four years as a management consultant. Evan also holds a BS in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Northwestern University.
