Maximizing the value of data within an organization depends upon effectively including data and analysis into the decision making process. Using the NBA draft as a case study, the workshop will examine the psychology of decision making, how the process can influence the decisions that are made, and how data with different levels of uncertainty require different processes. A framework for a data centered approach to decision making will be introduced and applied in the context of the draft. Participants will leave the workshop with a more nuanced understanding of the complexities of how data and process can influence decision making, as well as a clear framework for making decisions based on highly uncertain data.
