Mike Lynch is the Data Director at Sports Reference LLC, leading the data team responsible for the wealth of information appearing on the company’s nine websites. Lynch and his team are dedicated to enhancing the availability of sports data for public consumption and aiding in democratizing data, a core tenet of Sports Reference. His work has helped generate over two billion pageviews to the Sports Reference websites in 2023, as users from around the world utilize them for easy access to current and historical sports data.

Before spending the last decade with Sports Reference, Lynch previously worked in research roles with ESPN, Big Ten Network, and Comcast SportsNet. Lynch found the Sports Reference sites to be indispensable resources to his work in past roles covering teams in a variety of sports. In his free time, Lynch enjoys coaching youth basketball, watching basketball, reading about basketball, and feeding his pizza addiction while thinking about basketball. He is a two-time Emmy winner, the only three-time champion in the history of the Needlessly Complicated Sports Reference Company Pool (NCSRCP), Sports Reference’s first annual Rock-Paper-Scissors champ, and one-time 76ers Camp Most Valuable Player. A Boston University graduate, Lynch lives in Philadelphia with his wife and two children.
