Matthew Notowidigdo

Assistant Professor and Neubauer Family Faculty Fellow, Chicago Booth

About

Matthew J. Notowidigdo studies labor economics and health economics. His recent paper "Approaches to Estimating the Health State Dependence of the Utility Function" (written jointly with Amy Finkelstein and Erzo Luttmer) was published in the American Economic Review Papers and Proceedings in 2009. His completed working papers include "What Good Is Wealth without Health? The Effect of Health on the Marginal Utility of Consumption" (written jointly with Amy Finkelstein and Erzo Luttmer). Notowidigdo has teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and he was honored with the distinction of the Carleton E. Tucker Award for Teaching Excellence in 2004. He holds a BS in economics, a BS in computer engineering, an MEng in computer science, and a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Notowidigdo joined the University of Chicago faculty in 2010.
