Dr. Sean Forman is the creator of Baseball-Reference.com and FBref.com and is the President of Sports Reference LLC. The 33 employees of Sports Reference operate nine sports information websites focusing on historical statistics, analysis of the current game, and the popular game, ImmaculateGrid.com. In 2000, while in graduate school at the University of Iowa, Sean launched Baseball-Reference.com. After completing his PhD. in Applied Mathematics, he taught at Saint Joseph's University for six years. He left teaching in 2006 to run Sports Reference full-time. Sean attended the very first Sloan conference in 2007 and in 2013, Sports Reference LLC was a recipient of the MIT SSAC Alpha Award. In 2011, he received SABR's Chadwick Award for lifetime achievement in baseball research. Sean lives in Philadelphia with his wife Sylvia and two children.
