Juan Rivera
Juan Rivera is entering his fifth season as a coach for the Boston Red Sox. He joined the organization in 2022 as a Development Coach focusing on integrating new technology and data into advance scouting, pitch design, and player plans to improve on-field performance. Rivera was promoted to AA Pitching Coach last year working in concert with the Red Sox Pitching Department to equip players with the resources to impact the big league team via usage, biomechanical insights, and ball flight optimization.
Rivera previously coached in the college ranks and private sector at Antonelli Baseball as a Pitching Coordinator and Hitting Instructor. Those experiences inform his holistic view of pitcher–hitter interactions, particularly how pitch design, sequencing, and zone behavior influence hitter decision-making and offensive output. His work frequently explores the relationship among underlying pitch characteristics, skeletal tracking, and outcome-based metrics.
Born in Puerto Rico, Rivera moved to Massachusetts when he was four and grew up in a bilingual household. He played D3 baseball at Eastern Nazarene College where he was a two-way player before pursuing his Master's in Sports Management.
