Kevin has written about the NBA for ESPN since 2008. In 2014, he hosted a 1-on-1 conversation with Dr. Charles Czeisler of Harvard about sleep science and the NBA. In 2012, he gave the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference Evolution of Sports presentation on the implementation of analytics to improve traffic congestion at sports venues -- because everyone despises getting in and out of stadium parking lots.

At ESPN, Kevin has covered innovation, organizational culture, the evolution of X’s & O’s, the science of performance, social issues, league intrigue, among other stuff. His feature story, “How NBA executive Jeff David stole $13 million from the Sacramento Kings” was anthologized in the “Best American Sportswriting 2020” collection. He recently sold a scripted television drama pilot to Universal Content Productions.

He is a native of Atlanta, a graduate of Columbia University and a resident of  Los Angeles, where he lives with his partner and golden retriever. Said partner, Erich Schwartzel, is a reporter at the Wall Street Journal and is the author of the newly published book, "Red Carpet: Hollywood, China, and the Global Battle for Cultural Supremacy.” Said golden retriever, Howard, starred in his first commercial last fall for a room deodorizer.
