General Purpose: Directly reporting to the Associate AD for Business Operations, this position assists with all aspects of fiscal activities, strategy, and analytical work of the athletic business office. The Assistant Athletics Director supports the financial planning process and financial forecast cycles across the department: monthly, quarterly, annual, and long-term forecasting. This role has oversight of contracts within the department with the expectation of departmental total cost savings through negotiation, competitive bidding, and new vendor sources. This role will analyze financial data sets to identify trends, interpret findings, seek opportunities, and quantify the potential value of new initiatives. Assists in developing and maintaining BI infrastructure, architectural design, and technical configurations. Performs ongoing ad-hoc analyses at the request of the Associate AD for Business Operations and other senior leaders within the department.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance and five years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualifications: • Excellent financial or accounting skills, including analysis and forecasting. • Advanced skill in excel and SQL – experience joining data sets to drive analytics. • Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to formulate a plan, and desire to drive that plan through to completion. • Strong Leadership skills and the ability to communicate directions and expectations effectively. • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently. • Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s Degree or advanced financial certification preferred.
