Position Description

Syracuse University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Sport Analytics. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, undergraduate and graduate instruction in the Department of Sport Management with an emphasis on instruction in Sport Analytics. Appointment is at the assistant professor level.The Department of Sport Management in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, offers a B.S. degree in Sport Management, B.S. in Sport Analytics, M.S. in Sport Venue and Event Management, and a CAS and MS in Sport Analytics.

Desired Qualifications

A strong research background in econometrics is desired. Ability to work and code in R and/or Python is also desirable for this position.The overriding requirement for faculty appointment, reappointment and promotion within the University Tenure Line must be distinguished performance and future promise of distinguished performance.The department is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research, or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.Primary duties include, but are not limited to, undergraduate and graduate instruction in the Department of Sport Management with an emphasis on instruction in Sport Analytics.In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will conduct individual and collaborative research relative to one’s field of interest; provide academic advising to students; become an active participant in scholarly activities and civic engagement; and effectively handle other responsibilities associated with being a faculty member.The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with other academic units and departments across the academic community and with sport industry practitioners.
