William Spearman

A newcomer to the field of sports analytics, Dr. William Spearman comes from a background in experimental particle physics. He completed his PhD at Harvard University through a collaboration with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). His research centered around the detection of muons in the ATLAS experiment and their use in measuring the mass of the newly discovered Higgs Boson. In 2014, William joined the sports video company, Hudl, as a data scientist building tools and products to help coaches and analysts. In 2016 and again in 2017, William was invited to present his research on pitch control and passing in soccer at the OptaPro Analytics Forum.
