Vaibhav Ramamoorthy

MS Candidate, Department of Statistics
University of California, Berkeley

Vaibhav is a Master’s candidate in the Department of Statistics at UC Berkeley working towards a career in data science. He recently completed his undergraduate studies at Berkeley as well, studying Statistics and Economics. Vaibhav has competed in a number of datathons, most recently winning the 2018 Brown University Datathon with a project investigating the first-impression and self-selection bias in academic paper evaluations. His sports analytics projects include modeling question-answer responses in NBA press conferences and developing a baseball statistic that accounts for each at-bat’s situational differences. Vaibhav’s next step is to develop an algorithm that will help him in his fantasy football draft, though he probably doesn’t need any help being a 3-time champion of his league.
