Surya Tokdar

Associate Professor of Statistical Science, Duke University

Surya Tokdar is an Associate Professor of Statistical Science at Duke University. Dr. Tokdar completed his BS and MS degrees in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata before earning a PhD degree in Statistics from Purdue University, West Lafayette. His PhD dissertation won the 2007 Leonard J Savage award for best dissertation on Bayesian theory and methods. Before joining Duke as a tenure track faculty, Dr. Tokdar worked at Carnegie Mellon University as a Morris H DeGroot Visiting Assistant Professor of Statistics. Dr. Tokdar’s research interests cover a broad range of theory, computation and application of Bayesian inference, with a special focus on nonparametric statistical modeling. His current applied research cuts into neuroscience and sports analytics.
