Ron Eglash

Professor of Science and Technology Studies, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Dr. Ron Eglash is a Professor of Science and Technology Studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, with a secondary appointment in Computer Science. He received his B.S. in Cybernetics, his M.S. in Systems Engineering, and his PhD in History of Consciousness, all from the University of California. His work as Fulbright scholar was published as African Fractals: modern computing and indigenous design (Rutgers); and featured in his 2007 TED talk. His NSF-funded research on “generative STEM” brings together university students and faculty with local community activists and K-12 educators, seeking new approaches to putting science and innovation in the service of under-served populations.
