Nathan Frank

AI Scientist, STATS

Nathan Frank is an AI Scientist at STATS focusing on anomaly detection and natural language generation tasks using basketball and soccer data. Prior to joining STATS, Nathan was a member of the Physics & Astronomy Department at UNC – Chapel Hill where his research focused on the application of Bayesian statistical models to multidimensional observational data sets using genetic-algorithm based methods. Mid way through his PhD program Nathan became interested in other applications of modeling and statistics and, through sports entrepreneurship initiatives with the Kenan Institute, including its annual Basketball Analytics Summit, Nathan learned that while the vocabulary may differ between astrophysics and sports analytics, the approaches to statistical analysis of large data sets is consistent.
