Joshua Wilbur

PhD Candidate, Department of Mechanical Engineering
University of California, Berkeley

Josh is a 4th year PhD Candidate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley. His ultimate goal as an academic is to improve the quality and compassion of engineering education, increasing accessibility and learning outcomes for all students. While his primary research interests are in the physical sciences, his involvement in an economics-based project stemmed from a discussion with friends about possible methods for quantifying the NBA’s greatest player of all time (GOAT). Josh’s graduate work has been supported by both a UC Berkeley Graduate Fellowship and also a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. As an avid basketball fan and player (NIRSA National Club Basketball Championship Runner-Ups in 2014), it pains him to watch the Sacramento Kings continuously dabble in mediocrity.
