Jennifer Hobbs

AI Scientist, STATS

Jennifer is an AI Scientist at STATS working on fine-grained prediction using basketball and soccer player-tracking data. She completed her PhD in Physics and Astronomy from Northwestern University. Originally studying high energy physics and doing research at Fermilab National Accelerator, she switched her research focus to statistical and computational neuroscience. Through her research into how the brain encodes the spatiotemporal statistics of the tactile environment, she became interested in machine learning more broadly. Over the past two years at STATS, Jennifer has done work on personalized expected points models and team style analysis in basketball, transition and formation analysis in soccer, and building out the analytics architecture and data processing pipelines.
