Benjamin Horne

PhD Student, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Benjamin Horne is a Ph.D. student in the department of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Before coming to RPI, he received a B.S. in computer science and a B.S.B.A in business management from Union University. His research is on increasing online information quality through a mixture of content, source, and algorithm analysis. This work utilizes machine learning, natural language processing, and network science techniques to discover improved methods to both reccomend and detect high quality information. His love for sports and the growing importance of STEM education has led him to use his computational skills in the field of sports analytics. He hopes this year’s MIT SSAC work will inspire more research on the use of sports in increasing science education in underrepresented populations.
