Born in London, UK Arup spent his early years between London, Illinois and Michigan before returning with his family to India when he was 9 years old. Rumor has it that he was discussing baseball and basketball stats to the 3rd decimal point as the plane pulled out of SFO. Arup spent the next decade plus of his life in India and he graduated with honors in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. He returned to the US to do a PhD in Economics from Boston University which he expects to complete by May, 2011. His chosen field is applied microeconomics with a focus on sports economics. He plans to continue working in sports or related fields and his long run ambition is to run a sports consulting firm back home as ‘Indian professional sports come of age’. In his spare time he enjoys reading, playing sports, attending concerts and has recently discovered the benefits of yoga.
