If you only know us for our panels, there’s a whole lot you’d be missing. From groundbreaking research papers to demonstrations of brand new sports technology, there’s a whole life outside the panel rooms at SSAC15.
So consider this a little advance tour of all there is to see at the Conference including everything you can start reading ahead of time.
Research papers, Presented by Ticketmaster: Have a long flight to Boston for SSAC15? Or just want to read about tomorrow’s common knowledge today? The full versions of all eight research paper finalists are available here. You can see the authors present the papers all day Friday, and the best of those will be selected for a Saturday presentation in Panel Room A from 11:40 a.m – 12:40 p.m.
Competitive Advantage talks: Back for a third year and bigger than ever, the speaker series is a chance to hear straight from the experts on the important sports analytics and business topics that they’ve devoted their lives to studying and living. The talk summaries can be found here, and the schedule for the CA Room (257) is on the Conference agenda.
Startup Tradeshow Blitz: Stop by Room 258 on Saturday morning from 9:00 – 11:20 a.m. to see the presentations of 11 innovative sports technology companies vying for funding money in two different tracks. Before that, check out the list of the competitors and see what they have to offer.
Data Science and Visualization Zone, Presented by Booz Allen Hamilton: New for SSAC15 is this interactive experience that stresses not only how data analysis is conducted, but also how it can be more effectively presented and communicated to improve organizations. View the topic descriptions and schedule for demonstrations, or just come by Room 252 any time and try out the technology yourself.
First Pitch Case Competition, Presented by Zebra Technologies: Teams of graduate students will compete to solve a challenging sports business issue and present their recommendations. You can check out a snapshot of this year’s case as a preview to the finals on Saturday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the Research Paper Room (258).
Hallway conversations: And of course, what is the Conference without some informal chatting in the halls of the BCEC? Download the SSAC15 app on iOS or Android to create a profile and connect with other attendees.
