Time: Friday, February 27 12:15 PM – 12:40 PM
Location: Data Science and Visualization Zone (Room 252)
In the last few years we’ve seen an explosion of interest in sports data, and slowly, methods for visually understanding it have emerged—whether charts, info graphics, or data visualizations. With ever-increasing amounts of data, design and visualization grow even more important: data isn’t actionable unless it can first be understood.
This session will look at visualization of data, including several examples from inside and outside of sports, and explain more about methods and approaches to understanding large, dynamic data sets. We’ll also talk about the importance of understanding different audiences—from players to coaches to front office staff—and how they each require different approaches.
