See slides here

American football is full of science, but not just the physics you might remember from high school. There are more sophisticated and interesting aspects of science at work on the gridiron. In this talk, we will present how neuroscientists can help find your next quarterback. We will show how the no-huddle offense gives teams an advantage by invoking chaos theory. We’ll demonstrate how quarterbacks can make better decisions by using an old trick buried inside of computers—simple flow charts based on binary thinking. This presentation will also highlight how small changes can lead to radical shifts known as Butterfly effects. After learning about the scientific underpinnings at work in the NFL, audiences will come away enlighten and entertain with a new perspective on football.
