Life of the College Student-Athlete

There are nearly half a million NCAA student-athletes on college campuses across the country, and over 97% will go pro in something other than their sport. With that in mind, a student-athlete’s ability to obtain his/her degree – in the face of extensive, year-round time commitments – is of the utmost importance. While coaches and administrators govern schedules, set standards, and ensure health and safety, athletes take control of their personal routines and habits in a delicate balance between studies and pursuit of excellent performance.

This panel, Life of the College Student Athlete, will explore the current state of amateurism in the United States as well as the intersection of interests between schools and their athletes from the perspective of both former players and administrators.
