Social media has opened new avenues for teams, leagues, and athletes to engage directly with fans. The year in sports has shown social media’s potential as a medium for an all-star campaign, philanthropic efforts, commentary on political and social issues, and talking trash. However, the virality of social poses risks where the line between friendly banter and disrespect can be misunderstood. This panel will focus on athletes’ approaches to the digital age, including how and what they choose to share on social media.
